Kamal Abu Eita, the president of the independent Union of Real Estate Tax Authority Employees, has been summoned by the North Giza prosecutor for interrogation, today Saturday, over charges leveled against him by the corrupt, state-backed General Federation of Trade Unions President Hussein Megawer. The latter accuses Abu Eita of “spreading false information that has hurt the reputation of Egypt and its official trade union system.”
Abu Eita is not planning to show up at the Prosecutor’s office. Labor and socialist lawyers are expected to request postponement of the proceedings.
In other news, the ILO has rewarded Megawer and the corrupt General Federation for their onslaught on the independent unions by taking Egypt off its “black list” that included the worst 25 countries in terms of labor rights violations!
