USAID in Egypt

The US efforts for promoting democracy in Egypt include…

Ninety percent of the total US$6 billion in USAID granted to Egypt over the past 30 years has been misused, while it is unknown where the rest was spent, a report by the Economic Studies Center revealed. USAID is a US agency whose primary purpose is to distribute civilian foreign aid.
The report said the grants were originally directed to support democracy and human rights, but were spent on salaries of foreign consultants, parties and conferences.
The center based its findings on reports by the USAID and the Egyptian Central Auditing Organization.
It also said that USAID gave the government $50 million to spend on education, of which $10 million were spent on scholarships for Egyptians to study in the United States.

Does anybody have a link to the original report? I can’t find it online.

Domino Effect: Israel dreading a democratic Arab world

The Israeli deputy PM expresses his concern over the democratization of the Arab world, following the dissolution of the Tunisian dictatorship.

Any real democracy that comes to existence in the Arab World will by default be against the US govt and the Zionist State.

DC Pundits: We love Mubarak and we love democracy too!

Tags: | | | | | | |
Categories: Blog

The DC pundits are seriously hopeless. They cannot escape the I-want-to-have-my-cake-and-eat-it-too mentality. They think somehow they can still sponsor the Mubarak’s regime and use it to serve the US interests in the region, while still pushing for “democracy” and winning the hearts of minds of the Arab people. How is it possible to reconcile supporting “the political and human rights of Egyptian citizens, while cooperating with the Egyptian government on diplomatic and security affairs”???

So the US govt will ask Mubarak to continue his siege on Gaza, but will ask him at the same time not to suppress the pro-Palestine protests in the country?!

You don’t need a PhD scholar to tell you how farce and delusional this approach is. The Mubarak’s dictatorship which enjoys sodomizing detainees and cracking young men’s skulls to death should not receive a singly cent from the US tax payers’ money.
