As soon as the Ghazl Shebeen el-Kom workers march arrived in front of the Monofiya Governorate headquarters, an additional armored vehicle belonging to the military police showed up to reinforce the troops already stationed in front of the building.
The army commander present at the scene was called Colonel Mahmoud. He shouted threatening the workers with the use of live ammunition to disperse the protest. The soldier mounting the vehicle started loading the machine gun as you see in the videos, and in response the workers started chanting: “We are not afraid! We are not leaving!”
